Premium Rate Phone Charges and Revenue Sharing Numbers within the NHS

Premium rate numbers are revenue generators for many businesses. Calling premium rate numbers can cost up to ten pence per minute. One phone call of over five minutes can generate businesses 5p per/min at peak rate. For the whole year in average this can bring in approx £300,000 as big businesses deal with at least 3000 calls per day. This amount generated can help businesses pay off the salaries of most people working for them. I will look at this opportunity to build your business and take it to the next level if your business provides the services which people require in their daily life.

Examples of premium rate numbers are 0870 numbers, 0845 numbers, 0871 numbers, 0844 numbers and 090 numbers. Most businesses these days are targeting this number as it is an opportunity to generate money. One prime example of making money through these numbers is many IT companies around the UK use premium rate numbers for their technical help line and you know for sure if you have problems with your computer you have to ring these numbers if you do not find a solution to fix your computer. As you probably know it yourself, when you call the helpline you are put in a cue till the next staff becomes available this is take atleast 15 minutes and when someone does come on the other link you will have to explain the problem then some more time to find the solution then to fix the problem, in this process the company is already generating approx 60 mins of the call charges.

It is very rare that phone calls to these numbers are all inclusive in your landline contract unlike phone calls to local numbers or even mobile numbers. That’s just through landline many mobile networks charge for calls to free numbers like 0808 and 0800 numbers so calling 0870, 0845, 0844 numbers will be even more expensive from mobiles. BT and some other network providers are starting to include 0845 and 0870 in some of their packages but do not apply to 0844 and 0871 numbers.
